# Signatures

Open **Mail > Inboxes > Manage inbox > Signature**. Enter your text, enable
**Include your signature**, and choose **Save signature**. The signature-only
preview updates as you type. Changes to the editor take effect after saving.

For account defaults, open the organization-name menu, choose **Manage organization**,
then **Signatures**. The **Extrovert signature default** toggle affects new inboxes
and existing inboxes that follow the default. It preserves inbox-specific choices.

Your signature is free and optional. Each inbox has its own plain-text signature,
limited to 2,000 characters. Line breaks and Unicode are supported. HTML-like text
appears as text; images, rich HTML, and template variables are not supported.
Disabling a signature keeps its saved text.

## Extrovert signature

The account default applies across the billing account's organization tree and
projects, never unrelated accounts you can access. Each inbox can inherit it or
have an On or Off preference. The page shows inherited and effective values.

New accounts start On, including paid accounts. Existing paid accounts are
backfilled Off. Free accounts always include the Extrovert signature. Downgrading
preserves preferences so they can resume after a later upgrade.

In **Manage inbox > Signature**, choose **Use account default**, **On**, or **Off**
for the Extrovert signature, then save. Choosing Off on a free account opens the
upgrade dialog for that inbox. Cancelling keeps the existing setting.

**Apply this setting to all inboxes...** is a separate account action with confirmation.
It resets all inbox-specific Extrovert signature choices to the current default.
It does not change custom signature text or its enabled state.

Account-wide changes require billing-account authority. Inbox changes require
inbox-management authority. Paid users can turn an inbox On or restore inheritance.

## Upgrading from removal

**View paid plans** preserves the selected scope. Creating a plan-change request
binds that choice before the existing approval/payment flow. Removal happens only
after backend-confirmed paid activation, even with the browser closed. Cancelled,
expired, failed, and unrelated purchases do not apply removal. New explicit
signature choices supersede older pending intents.

After a successful upgrade the console returns to Signatures. Pending activation
is shown until confirmed. Unsaved editor text stays in this browser session for
the account and inbox; saving or signing out clears it.

## Sending and review

Custom signatures precede the Extrovert signature. The preview footer is an
example: attribution can vary with verified review history. The example uses the
inbox account's verified human name, or verified email if the name is unavailable.
It never assumes that the person viewing Settings controls the sending agent. Each new review
revision captures the custom signature in its displayed content. Later settings
changes do not alter reviewed content. The Extrovert footer is resolved before
message bytes freeze; retries and Sent copies preserve those bytes. Platform
notices are excluded.
