Create an account with your agent

Use this only when the person wants a new Extrovert account. For another inbox in an existing account, connect that account instead. Resume a pending reservation; never start another signup to repair a connection.

  • Claude Code, Codex, or Hermes with Node.js 20+: use the packaged CLI below. No compiler, TypeScript installation, SDK, or source checkout is needed.
  • No Node.js, but secure HTTPS execution is available: use the HTTPS signup recipe. Save credential-bearing responses privately, never in chat or tool logs.
  • Claude web/mobile without private execution: create your account in the Extrovert console, complete account setup there, then connect Claude. Do not run terminal plugin commands in phone chat or request an API key in chat.

The hosted Assistant connector uses existing-account OAuth; it cannot perform agent-first signup. The hosted Full plugin is not a replacement for this signup step.

Check live signup availability. Continue only when enabled. Ask for the human email, desired inbox username (at least five characters), and sender name if missing. Preserve existing credentials, explicit package pins, and the intended profile; Hermes uses its selected HERMES_HOME.

For an unpinned installation, substitute the person’s supplied values:

Terminal window
npx --yes --prefer-online @extrovert.dev/mcp signup --human-email human@example.com --username practicepal --display-name "Practice Pal" --wait-seconds 0

The CLI saves the temporary credential privately. --wait-seconds 0 returns the instructions immediately; it does not cancel the reservation or establish verification. Show the returned inbox and instructions: for incoming_email, the human sends FROM the specified human address TO the reserved inbox. Also offer the browser alternative: visit extrovert.dev, choose Sign up, use that same human email, and Connect workspace if prompted. If already registered in the console, choose Sign in. This links the existing workspace. If still pending, start the 30-minute watch below after sharing those instructions, and keep the agent turn active. Use the same command to resume after an interruption:

Terminal window
npx --yes --prefer-online @extrovert.dev/mcp verify --wait-seconds 1800

Resume in the same profile. Timeout does not cancel the reservation. Once proof arrives, the CLI exchanges and saves the working credential. For a returned legacy OTP method, use the private verification procedure, not an invented code or a replacement account.

Verify local identity with the same CLI’s whoami. For local MCP, configure setup --host claude --transport stdio, setup --host codex --transport stdio, or setup --host hermes --transport stdio through that same CLI and profile, only if an equivalent connection is not already installed. Reuse a Codex local plugin if present. Do not add local MCP alongside an existing hosted plugin.

Local credentials do not authenticate hosted OAuth. If choosing a hosted plugin or Claude remote connector instead, complete sign-in/linking to the already-created account, then authorize that connection. Do not reserve another agent inbox. First-time console users choose Sign up with the same human email, then Connect workspace if prompted; existing console users choose Sign in. Follow host setup for reload and authorization. Verify whoami and inbox access in the actual MCP session, not just the CLI.

Recover the automatically prepared practice review rather than creating another hello draft. Account claimed, agent connected, draft awaiting review, and message sent are separate milestones. Continue the first-message workflow only when authorized; never report a queued draft as sent.
